The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath has reportedly lodged a criticism against actor and TVK chief Vijay following a recent Iftar event he hosted. The Iftaar took place on the YMCA grounds in Royapettah, where Vijay donned a skull cap and took part in prayers before breaking his fast. He shared an Iftar meal with attendees, and diverse pictures and videos from the event circulated widely on social media.

What Did Treasurer Syed Kous Stated?

The News18 report states that Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath treasurer Syed Kous met the media to debate the organisation’s criticism against Vijay. He reportedly said, “Muslims were insulted on the Iftar program organised by Vijay. We imagine the participation of drunkards and rowdies who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims.”

Syed also stated that the event was organised in a hurtful manner. He called out Vijay for not ‘expressing regret’ at how the Iftar turned out. He alleged that arrangements weren’t made appropriately and that Vijay’s ‘foreign guards’ disrespected people, ‘treating them like cows. “Legal motion needs to be taken against Vijay to make sure this doesn’t occur again. We didn’t file a criticism for publicity,” he added.
