Ramirez To ‘Deconstruct’ Haney? Garcia: Rematch With Garcia Still Inevitable

Jose Ramirez’s trainer, Robert Garcia, believes the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney 2 rematch can still occur after Ramirez defeats Dev on May 2nd on the Fatal Fury card at Times Square in Latest York City.

Controversy Factor

Fans will still be excited about seeing Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) on account of the “controversy” from their clash last 12 months on April twentieth. The 2 fighters are sharing the May 2nd card in tune-ups to organize them for the October rematch.

“The rematch can still occur. It’s a fight that brought in a lot controversy that even when Haney were to lose, there’s no reason why the rematch can’t occur,” said trainer Robert Garcia to Fight Hub TV when asked if it bothers him that there’s already plans for Devin Haney to fight Ryan Garcia in October despite Devin still having Jose Ramirez that he’s facing next on May 2nd.

Robert is correct. There’ll still be fan interest within the Kingry vs. Haney 2 rematch, even when Devin is coming off a blowout loss to Jose Ramirez. People will still need to see the second fight because their previous match last April was entertaining. With Haney blaming his loss on Garcia being on PEDs, boxing fans will need to see if the rematch shall be any different.

“Jose [Ramirez] goes to exit and do whatever it takes to win. I’m going to coach him,” said Robert. “We’re already training very hard. He’s already motivated. That’s the one thing on his mind is to exit and win. When that happens, it’s still a fight that folks need to see, Haney vs. Ryan. It’s not like it may’t occur simply because he [Haney] loses one other fight. I believe that’s a fight that may still occur. So, if Jose beats Haney, he can still fight Ryan and it’ll still be a giant fight.”

Defeat & Weight

It comes all the way down to how badly Haney loses to Ramirez. If he gets deconstructed into his base elements, shattered into pieces in a knockout loss, there won’t be nearly as much intrigue in a rematch with Ryan Garcia. Fans would expect Haney to avenge his loss to Ramirez first since it was a much worse final result for him. If Devin is totally broken apart, it’s confirmed of their minds that his chin was ruined by Kingry last April, they usually’ll view him as a ruined person. That’s how he’s viewed by many anyway, however it can be academic at that time.

“Jose signed a contract for a catchweight of 144, but recently, they told us they intend to make it at 147. So, I don’t know if there’s a brand new contract or if Jose signed anything. I don’t think so or I’d have already known. I believe Jose feels comfortable going to 144, but 147 wouldn’t be that bad either because he’s a giant boy.

“Jose has been at 140 for a few years already and it was hard to make weight. So, 147 isn’t bad if it finally ends up being at 147,” said Robert in regards to the fight between Ramirez and Haney on May 2nd.
