The Gunners romped to a 9-3 aggregate win over PSV, while the Villains also eased into the last eight as they beat Club Brugge 6-1 over two legs.

As you’d expect it’s a high profile line-up left in Europe’s top competition, with representatives from five countries still alive.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain each needed penalty shootouts to maintain their Champions League dreams alive, edging out Atletico Madrid and Liverpool respectively.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan didn’t have an excessive amount of trouble with their last 16 ties as Barca downed Benfica, Bayern ousted Leverkusen and Inter knocked out Feyenoord.

It was somewhat stickier for Borussia Dortmund, but they squeezed past Lille 3-2 over two legs.

Aston Villa’s return to the highest tier of European football goes extremely well nevertheless it doesn’t get any easier as they face PSG next.

Win that and it’ll be Arsenal or Real Madrid within the semis.
