England name star-studded U21s squad value greater than £400million

Premier League and European talent feature in a star-studded England U21 side for the March international break.

Head coach Lee Carsley’s 25-man squad has been revealed ahead of friendlies against France and Portugal.

In line with Transfermarkt, the combined market value of all of the players stands at around £411million.

Taking top spot is Jamie Gittens, with the Borussia Dortmund star having an approximate value of £42million.

The 20-year-old has scored 11 goals in 39 appearances this season and has already featured 11 times for the England U21s.

Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri was an outdoor contender for the senior team, however the 17-year-old has still made the jump to U21s level.

The winger has scored eight goals in his first senior season with the Gunners and has rightfully earned a promotion from the U19s.

Joining him for the upcoming break is Rico Lewis, who has featured 36 times for Manchester City within the 2024/25 campaign to date.

Carsley chosen the defender for the senior team during his spell as interim boss last 12 months but they’ll be back together a step below.

Jarrad Branthwaite has made the cut amid one other impressive season with Everton and so has Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Ipswich Town trio Liam Delap, Omari Hutchinson and Jaden Philogene feature in the chosen attacking options.

Nine of the 25 players feature within the English Football League, with two of the goalkeepers coming from League Two sides.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe is on loan at Doncaster Rovers from Chelsea and Stoke City teenager Tommy Simkin plays for Walsall.

James Beadle plays for Sheffield Wednesday within the Championship, as do defenders CJ Egan-Riley and Dennis Cirkin.

Hayden Hackney is one in every of Middlesbrough’s representatives and Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham joins him as a midfielder.

League One’s second-highest scorer this season on 16 goals is Jay Stansfield of Birmingham City, with Sam Iling Jr also chosen from Middlesbrough.
