Ukrainian troops have destroyed a bridge utilized by Russia to produce its troops in occupied Kherson.
The bridge, over the Konka river, was hit by airstrikes which destroyed two sections of the bridge, sending them crashing into the water below.
The Konka is a tributary of the nearby Dnipro, which is classed because the de facto border between Ukraine- and Russia-controlled areas of the Kherson region.
While the bridge had been hit earlier within the war, it was still usable to send military supplies to Vladimir Putin’s forces within the occupied area.
The strike hit near the occupied town of Oleshky, and reports suggest it was a ‘complete shock’ to Russian troops.
Elsewhere, Russian drone strikes struck a five-storey residential constructing in Chernihiv, destroying its upper floors because the block was engulfed in fire.
Activity between Ukraine and Russia has continued as Putin fails to sign a 30-day ceasefire agreement to permit peace talks to start.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that Putin is preparing to refuse the US ceasefire deal, but is ‘afraid to inform Donald Trump’ because he ‘desires to proceed this war’.
Donald Trump, who previously claimed he could end the Russia-Ukraine war in in the future, says he told Putin to spare Ukrainian troops from ‘a massacre not seen since World War II’.
Putin appears to be weighing up Russia’s response to the deal – which has been welcomed by most European leaders and is being considered a ‘moment of truth’ for the Kremlin.
