The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering adjusting the family rule on foreign tours. In accordance with the rules issued by BCCI in January 2025 after India’s shambolic performance within the Test series against Australia, families aren’t allowed to travel with the players for full overseas tours.
But in accordance with a modern report in news agency ANI and India Today on Tuesday (March 18), if the players want to have their families around for an prolonged period during an overseas tour, they’ll must apply for permission.
The event comes after batting superstar Virat Kohli recently expressed his disappointment over the brand new diktat and stressed the importance of players having their family members near them during high-pressure situations – particularly during overseas tours.
“Players can apply for permission in the event that they want their families to remain longer on tours. The BCCI will make a call because it sees fit,” a top BCCI source was quoted as saying by India Today.
The BCCI’s decision to limit family time on overseas tours going forward invited mixed reactions from players and experts in January.
“It is vitally difficult to elucidate to people how grounding it’s to simply come back to your loved ones each time you could have something intense, which happens on the skin. I don’t think people have an understanding of what value it brings to a big extent. And I feel quite upset about that since it is like individuals who don’t have any control over what is happening are type of brought into conversations and put out on the forefront, and ‘oh, perhaps they must be kept away,'” Kohli had said last week.
The 36-year-old added that he wouldn’t prefer to miss any opportunity to spend time with family.
“Like, there might be different situations happening in your life on a regular basis. And that lets you be absolutely normal. Not in a vague sense, but in a really possible way that you simply finish your commitment, your responsibility, and then you definitely come back to your own home, you’re with family, and there’s absolutely normalcy in your own home and normal family life goes on. So, for me, that is totally a day of immense pleasure. And I’d not miss any opportunities to exit and spend time with my family every time I can.”
