France preps ‘survival’ guide to assist residents in case of invasion, nuclear war – National

French authorities are gearing as much as release an emergency preparedness manual to assist the population withstand the opportunity of invasion, natural disasters and other potential threats.

A spokesperson for French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou told CNN on Wednesday that the survival manual, which is currently being developed, “goals to encourage residents to develop their resilience within the face of various crises.”

“This includes natural disasters, technological and cyber incidents, health crises like COVID-19, and security crises like terrorist attacks and armed conflict,” she continued.

Pending the prime minister’s approval, the booklet might be sent out by the summer, in line with media reports, and can complement advice laid out on an existing government website.

The manual will probably be separated into multiple sections with guidance on how you can protect yourself and your peers, how you can reply to imminent threats, and include a listing of emergency numbers and actions to take if there may be a nuclear threat.

The manual can even list ways to take part in defending the community, such a volunteering for reserve units and joining firefighting groups.

As well as, the French authorities released a diagram of a suggested  72-hour survival kit which shows a backpack full of items people may have in an emergency, including stores of water, copies of vital documents, a stash of canned food items, basic medical supplies, batteries, money and a torch, amongst others.

“Power, gas, and water outages, impassable roads… when a significant disaster strikes, the primary 72 hours are sometimes essentially the most stressful. This pre-prepared kit will mean you can stay at home more calmly while waiting for help. It should even be very useful within the event of a sudden departure,” the diagram’s description says.

Individuals are advised to maintain their kits in a box that is straightforward to access and to envision the kit yearly for expired medications, food, and other items.

France is following suit from countries like Sweden and Denmark, whose governments have already published similar resources.

Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to extend the country’s variety of military reserve personnel from 40,000 to 100,000 over the subsequent 10 years.

“Our country and our continent must proceed to defend themselves, equip themselves, and prepare if we would like to avoid war,” Macron said during a visit to a military base in France on Tuesday.

“That is the alternative we’ve made and can proceed to make. Nobody can say what’s going to occur within the months and years to return,” he concluded.

Global News has reached out to Public Safety Canada to see if Canada has an analogous manual within the works, but didn’t receive any response by publication time.
