Having managed Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Paris St Germain and Chelsea, the 51-year-old is tasting life on the international side of the fence for the primary time.

Tuchel is preparing to host Latvia on Monday after starting his England reign with a 2-0 win against Albania and pondering how best to juggle the turnaround while maximising time with the group.

‘I do know that this window, this camp, is where the clubs play a really crucial time of the season,’ Tuchel said. ‘They play for championships, they play for quarter-finals within the Champions League.

‘We’re thoroughly aware of it but now we have also our own goals, now we have our own targets. The players are keen to play and it needs to be like this.

‘I at all times accepted it as a club manager. I never got involved in line-ups, I never pushed any national coach because I used to be hoping that my players get picked, I used to be also hoping that they’re proud to play.

‘After all, you’re never joyful if something happens. No-one can predict that there isn’t a accident, but now we have a World Cup qualifier and we’ll take responsible decisions.’

Tuchel says he has not heard from any managers this week about England’s players and playfully identified how clubs take care of their very own needs.

‘After a 7-1 first leg and Declan Rice played the following match with Arsenal, I didn’t have the sensation that they think a lot about us,” the England boss said, pointing to the recent Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven.

‘I don’t think now we have to interrupt our heads about this. I take care concerning the players. We take care concerning the schedule, however it can be the flawed signal to inform players now, ‘Hey, you’ve tough matches coming up, so I rest you now’.

“We’ve got a qualifier to play, we do what’s good for us. We monitor them, we’re involved with the clubs, we’re in high-level monitoring where the status is and we won’t take any unprofessional risks.

‘Because to start with I feel accountable for the players. I don’t want the player to be injured, I would like the player to play quarter-finals of the Champions League – all of them – because I would like to observe it, I would like to see it.

‘So, that is where it’s and ultimately we take care about us and the clubs take care about themselves and the major focus is caring for the players.’
