She is most known for the series Masaba Masaba on Netflix and her award-winning short film Khujli. Her latest directorial enterprise is Dupahiya on Amazon Prime Video. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sonam Nair responds to Kartik Aaryan winning IIFA 2025 for Bhool Bhulaiya and never Sparsh Shrivastava for Laapataa Ladies.
Sonam Nair Forged Sparsh Shrivastava In Dupahiya Without Watching Laapataa Ladies
When asked why she forged Sparsh Shrivatava without watching Laapataa Ladies, director Sonam Nair said, “We auditioned him. So, we shot it’s, like, perhaps a yr before Laapataa Ladies got here out. When did Lapita ladies come out? Last yr. Like, only last yr. So, we needed to to him ’23, like, April or something. So, I knew that he was in Laapataa Ladies. I knew in regards to the film because, I do know Kiran, and, we had taken Romain, who’s the casting director for Laapataa Ladies, is our casting director. So, because he worked with that Ramain in Laapataa Ladies and other movies, we were like, okay. Let’s, you recognize, meet him and take him on.”
She added, “So he, though he knew, probably this film will probably be good. He’s an upcoming very talented actor. It was Romain who asked us to audition for it. And, I saw the audition, and I saw that he’s very talented. And I desired to, I asked him to come back and do, like, a type of a screen test with me and, the actual bike and, people. So we were like, let’s all just do a scene. And we did the scene, and, I just knew. And I used to be like, if he’ll do it, I can’t see anybody else doing it. It was not based on every other performance. Anyway, if I saw Laapataa Ladies, I don’t even know if that will make me think he can do this sort of role. It’s totally different. He was just so natural, so good that I just put my foot down. I said, now whatever it’s, he has to do that role.”
Sonam Nair REACTS To Kartik Aaryan Winning IIFA 2025 And Not Sparsh Shrivastava
Sonam Nair opens up on Sparsh Shrivastava not winning the IIFA 2025 for Best Male Actor, she said, “I didn’t really feel prefer it was. I mean, he’s a young actor. He’s so talented. I feel like there are lots of, many awards in the long run. So, I feel like, you recognize, he that is his first film. It’s high-quality. I mean, I don’t know, exactly, like, all of the awards winning. I mean, whoever won it that I attempted to I haven’t read the complete list or anything, but I feel like he’s just he has such a vivid future ahead. He mustn’t get stuck on something like this. He should just keep working hard, and he’ll get many awards.”
