Jon Jones accused of ‘conning the general public’ by Tom Aspinall as fight talk frustrations boil over

Jon Jones has been told that he’s ‘conning’ fans by continuing to stall talks for his heavyweight title unification bout.

Tom Aspinall has been chasing Jones around the globe for the past 12 months since winning the interim belt. And fans have been told by UFC boss Dana White that the fight, which is the most important that may be made currently, is all but done.

For months Aspinall has insisted that he has agreed to his end of the deal, but Jones is believed to be holding out for a record-breaking payday. And speaking with Logan Paul in a brand new episode of the Impaulsive podcast, the Brit claims it’s an effort to scam fans.

Tom Aspinall tears into Jon Jones in latest critique

Tom Aspinall’s continued push towards a fight with Jon Jones has seen him head to Latest York to pursue his rival and go on a lengthy media tour calling for the bout. Just on Saturday night at UFC London he trolled Jones with a duck toy, intimating that his rival is avoiding or ‘ducking’ the fight.

Aspinall has as many defenses of his interim heavyweight belt as Jones has of the undisputed, and is not any longer concerned with competing for a secondary belt. Speaking with Paul and Mike Majlak, he explained: “Jon is conning the general public.

“Listen, I’m not disputing that he’s an incredible fighter. I believe the incontrovertible fact that he didn’t need to fight [Francis] Ngannou for 3 years and now he doesn’t need to fight me over a 12 months and he just the way in which he manipulates the media and the general public is super smart. I don’t need to take anything away from him.

“But do I believe he’s scared to take the tough fights at this stage in his profession? Absolutely. I can [understand it], I respect it. But if you happen to’re going to ask me the straight up query ‘is Jon Jones afraid to fight me?’ The honest answer could be ‘yes’.”

Jon Jones wants generational payout for Tom Aspinall fight

It’s been some time since Jones has openly spoke in regards to the prospect of fighting Aspinall, as an alternative opting to share cryptic messages and egging on a fan chant against his rival last week. But speaking after his last win at UFC 309, he noted that the cash needed to make the fight could be significant.

“I just don’t like him and at the tip of the day, if I give him the chance to fight me, I would like to be so compensated,” Jones told the media at Madison Square Garden after his last world title defence against Stipe Miocic.

“I would like to say it, I would like that ‘f— you’ money, truthfully. That’s just what it’s. Or else my life is ideal without him. I don’t need him in any respect and he needs me and that’s an excellent place to be in a negotiation.”
