Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Mother Defends Him And Mohanlal Amid L2 Controversy

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s mother and actress Mallika Sukumaran passionately defended her son amid the continued controversy surrounding Empuraan. In an intensive Facebook post, she asserted that Mohanlal was fully aware of each scene within the film and emphasized that her son didn’t deceive anyone involved. This is available in light of pushback from right-wing organizations regarding the film’s depiction of the Gujarat riots.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Mother Defends Him And Mohanlal Amid L2 Controversy

Following the backlash, the filmmakers decided to make 17 cuts and re-edit the movie. Meanwhile, director Major Ravi contended that Mohanlal had not viewed a preview of the film and was unaware of certain content. Initially reluctant to weigh in on the controversy, Mallika felt compelled to talk out in response to what she described as a false narrative aimed toward tarnishing Prithviraj’s popularity. In her post, she wrote, “As someone who knows the reality about what happened behind the scenes of Empuraan, it deeply pains me to see Prithviraj being unfairly targeted. It is a mother’s anguish. If speaking out invites mockery, so be it.”

“Neither Mohanlal nor the producers have ever said that Prithviraj betrayed them. I don’t think they ever will,” she stated, referring to Mohanlal as a ‘younger brother’ she has known since childhood. She lamented, “He praised my son on many occasions. It’s heartbreaking to see some people attempting to scapegoat Prithviraj without Mohanlal’s or the producers’ knowledge. As a director, Prithviraj has never deceived anyone related to this film, nor will he ever accomplish that.”

Mallik Sukumaran Points Out That Any Concern Should Be A Shared Responsibility

Mallika identified that if there are concerns about Empuraan, all individuals involved share responsibility. “All of them read the script together, reviewed the scenes as they were shot, and gave their approval. If any changes were needed during filming, author Murali Gopy was at all times available to make adjustments. So, how can Prithviraj alone be held accountable after the movie’s release?” she added.

To support her claims, she shared a conversation she had together with her son through the film’s shoot. She recalls, “A couple of months ago, during a phone call, my son told me he was busy with the shoot in Gujarat. He said, ‘I’m in the course of work, Amma. Lalettan is here. I even have to point out him every scene we’ve shot up to now and discuss things with Antony.’ This clearly proves that there wasn’t a single scene in Empuraan that Mohanlal was unaware of. There may be nothing on this film that Mohanlal doesn’t learn about, and he himself won’t ever claim otherwise.”

Mallika also accused certain individuals of spreading misinformation about her son for private gain and rejected claims that parts of the script were added without Mohanlal’s knowledge or that he didn’t view a preview of the film. She clarified that no preview was held for Empuraan and that she, along together with her daughters-in-law and grandchildren, watched the film on its release date.

Mallika Sukumaran’s Message To Major Ravi

Directly addressing Major Ravi, who suggested that Mohanlal was unaware of parts of the script, she remarked, “To Major Ravi, I even have just one thing to say: That was unnecessary, Major Ravi. I also extend this to others who are trying to seek out Prithviraj. Mohanlal or Antony won’t ever say that Prithviraj betrayed them. So, what does Major Ravi gain from isolating Prithviraj? Once I asked him, Major Ravi told me he responded based on some discussions happening in military circles. But what wrongdoing has my son committed?”

She condemned the fabricated stories circulating about Prithviraj and hinted at insider involvement within the alleged orchestrated attack. Mallika affirmed her family’s integrity: “We will not be individuals who thrive on politics. We’ve got close relationships with leaders from the BJP, Congress, and CPM. Resulting from political pressures, some leaders could have had to vary their stance on this issue, but we’ve got never modified our stance or withdrawn our love and respect for anyone.” She concluded her note with a heartfelt message: “Dearest people from different political families, Prithviraj never opposed anyone’s personal political views. Satyameva Jayate.”
