Ola Aina has been ruled out of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday on account of a calf injury.

The defender was forced off throughout the first half of Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Aina has been a key factor behind Forest’s impressive defensive record this season.

But Nuno Espirito Santo is ready to be without his first-choice right-back for Forest’s trip to Villa this weekend.

‘He [Aina] has had the scan and he’s going to be out for some time. It’s a calf problem. He is just not going to be available,’ Nuno said.

‘It’s a giant blow. We’ll miss his quality, his talent and the routines we have already got together with his teammates. We’re going to miss him.

‘Some players take more time, others less. We’ll assess him. He will certainly be out for Villa and for Everton he shall be a doubt. Beyond that we are going to assess him.

‘I’m positive that we are going to see him again [before the end of the season].’

Meanwhile, Chris Wood stays a doubt after the striker, who has scored 18 Premier League goals this season, missed the win against Manchester United.

‘Assessing, assessing, like I’ve been telling you it’s going to be day-to-day,’ Nuno said of Wood.

‘Hopefully tomorrow higher and he continues to enhance.’
