Delhi Capitals assistant coach Hemang Badani lauded Karun Nair after his stunning knock against the Mumbai Indians, stating how the latter scored ‘just’ nine a whole bunch this season and was itching for a chance before it got here, and he proved his mettle within the shortest format.
After setting the Vijay Hazare Trophy on fire along with his run-scoring spree and refusing to decelerate within the Ranji Trophy, Nair is now upping the ante in IPL 2025 as well, a tournament he has returned to after three long years.
Nair was on target to tug an exciting chase off Mumbai, but his wicket and a collapse that saw Delhi lose three wickets to a few runouts within the nineteenth over of the match broke his heart.
“This lad has not played the IPL within the last three years. He’s only got 9 First-Class a whole bunch this yr. He was itching for a likelihood. Waiting to get into the park. He has been bothering me ‘When am I going to get a game? Will I get this one?’ Even within the nets, he kept asking Can I actually have just a little more time in the center? ‘” Badani said in a post-match interaction with the team.
Not many batters have smacked ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah for 2 sixes in an over, and Nair underlined his preparation as a key to success, having gained enough confidence throughout the domestic season during which he aggregated 1870 runs for Vidarbha across formats.
“Truthfully, I had the boldness that I’ve played [IPL] before, and I know the way it’s going to be and it’s nothing different that I’m going to be facing anything recent,” Nair told the media after the match.
“So, but in my mind, it was nearly going on the market and giving myself just a few balls and just getting used to the speed of the sport again and the atmosphere,” Nair added.
Nair spoke about hitting conventional shots during Powerplay after which going for improvisation throughout the latter a part of the innings as well.
“So I just told myself, ‘give yourself the time, play normal shots after which, you understand, improvise when needed. ‘ Fortunately, all the pieces got here off, and I’m joyful that I batted well,” Nair said.
