Ian Machado Garry jumped at the prospect to step in on short notice to tackle the soaring Carlos Prates in a fundamental event spot.
After continuing his extremely impressive run within the UFC, Carlos Prates was matched up with veteran Geoff Neal at UFC 314, but unfortunately, Neal subsequently withdrew from the bout.
It seemed as if ‘The Nightmare’ would need to wait some time until he was rescheduled again as there aren’t many UFC welterweights putting their name within the hat to fight him.
Despite that, Ian Machado Garry jumped at the chance to take him on when he was offered the fight because the fundamental event to the promotion’s upcoming UFC Kansas City card.

‘The Future’ felt hard done by to miss out on the welterweight title shot after checking out that Shavkat Rakhmonov had withdrawn from his scheduled fight against champion, Belal Muhammad, despite having lost to Rakhmonov at UFC 310.

And with that, the Irishman has sent Prates a scary warning for his or her fight, after claiming earlier this week that Prates isn’t a ‘real fighter’.
“I’m going to go on the market on April 26 against Carlos Prates and prove that there are levels to this,” Machado Garry said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“There’s gonna be no one, no one that’s gonna expect what I’m gonna do to him. I’m going to completely manhandle and outclass him. There’s gonna be nothing that he’s gonna have the opportunity to do (to stop it).
“I’m gonna put this guy to sleep, I’m gonna leave him unconscious, after which I’m gonna go and I’m gonna fight for the belt, that’s my plan,” he continued.
