Ruben Amorim has allayed fears that Luke Shaw could have suffered an injury setback and confirmed the full-back has been rested for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Wolves.
Shaw returned from a serious muscle injury last month and has featured in United’s last two matches against Newcastle and Lyon, coming off the bench on each occasions.
However the 29-year-old played for much longer than Amorim had initially planned on Thursday night because the Red Devils’ Europa League epic with Lyon went to extra-time.
Shaw had been expected to be proceed his run on the bench at home to Wolves this afternoon however the England international misses out altogether, with academy product Harry Amass given the nod at left-back.

‘Shaw, in my mind, was playing half-hour against Lyon, but due to problems we had at half-time with Victor [Lindelof] and Nous [Mazraoui] after which extra-time, he did a excellent job but played a number of minutes,’ Amorim told MUTV ahead of United’s match with Wolves.
‘He has to feel that load, to rest now and train for the following game.’


Teenage defender Tyler Fredricson, 20, will make his senior United debut this afternoon, with Amorim making five changes to the team that eventually got over the road against Lyon in midweek.
‘He’s really composed, he’s really humble,’ Amorim said of United’s debutant Fredricson.
‘Every training session he has with the first-team, he is basically focused on every detail of coaching. He’s really good on the ball and it’s a very good opportunity for him.’
Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo and Amass are the opposite players recalled to United’s starting XI, with Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot making way.
With Fernandes named amongst Amorim’s substitutes, Eriksen will wear the captain’s armband on the Theatre of Dreams.
There isn’t a place for Altay Bayindir in Amorim’s squad after the goalkeeper’s less-than-convincing display in United’s wretched 4-1 defeat by the hands of Newcastle last weekend.
It’s Turkish shot-stopper picked up a minor injury in training and was not considered for selection as a precaution.
Amorim has kept faith with Andre Onana between the sticks, while Tom Heaton starts among the many substitutes within the north west.
Jonny Evans, meanwhile, makes his long-awaited return to United’s squad having been sidelined since December with a back injury.
