AEW Dynamite – 4/23/2025: 3 Things We Loved And Hated

For those who tuned in to this week’s episode of “AEW Dynamite” seeking to see what was next for AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm, you’ll have witnessed her in a temporary backstage interview with Renee Paquette, where she promoted her upcoming appearance on the TCM Film Festival, wished Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander luck of their semi-final match within the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, and issued a challenge for this weekend’s episode of “AEW Collision” for an eliminator match. That challenge was answered by Queen Aminata, who will get a shot at Storm’s title with a victory.

Storm vs. Aminata? I believe most individuals could be down for that, however the champion really looks like she has been hindered by the indisputable fact that her actual plans are for after Double or Nothing. Immediately, it really does feel like Storm has been spinning her wheels waiting for the Owen Hart Cup to complete so she will be able to actually craft a singular story with someone that won’t called Mariah May. Speaking of, one could argue that Storm has not likely done anything earth-shattering since she feuded with May, and while her temporary program with Megan Bayne was fun, with the advantage of hindsight, that now looks like it got here far too soon.

Coming out of Revolution, Storm was being positioned as a real predominant event player who could bring eyes to AEW. Obviously, she will be able to’t predominant event the show every week, but already, just just a few weeks on from feeling like certainly one of the largest stars in your complete business, Storm has form of just been waiting around to get something she will be able to really sink her teeth into. She does benefit from the minutes she is given, she’s arguably higher than everyone in AEW at getting probably the most out of the TV time given to her, but there’s only a specific amount of times you possibly can congratulate the Owen Hart Cup participants, or wish them luck, before you begin saying “Ms. Storm, can we move on to the subsequent scene?”

Why not do what you probably did with Megan Bayne, but have Aminata in that spot as an alternative? A brief program to raise her up the cardboard and make her a beneficial challenger for whoever leaves All In Texas with the title. That might have been a lot better than simply giving her a throw away match on an episode of “AEW Collision,” and sure, people have won eliminator matches before, just have a look at Mariah May’s feud with Anna Jay late last 12 months, but Storm is the lead actress sitting in her trailer waiting for everybody else to film their scenes so she will be able to get back out on to the set and steal the show.

We have still got a month to go before Double or Nothing, and there appears to be no signs of Storm actually wrestling on that card, which could be a really bad move. Even when it’s something short, AEW, please give your biggest female star something to do.
