Ryan Garcia is certainly one of many who noted how Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) “modified his whole style” through the middle of his fight with Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs), turning the fight into trench warfare to win a 12 round unanimous decision of their fight in London.

Inside Warfare

What Eubank Jr. did was change his whole style from round 4, taking the fight to the within to neutralize Benn’s power and speed. On the within, Eubank Jr. overwhelmed Benn with rapid-fire mixtures, throwing nonstop without tiring and taking full control of the competition. He never looked back from that time on.

The scores were 116-112, 116-112, and 116-112. I had it `117-111 for Eubank Jr. (9-3), as he appeared to win every round from the fourth on.

“I had Eubank hurt three or 4 times in there noticeably. I just couldn’t get the finish,” said Conor Benn on the post-fight press conference. “So, I’ll be sure next time that I finish it there. Nobody likes to lose. A detailed fight. You bought to be harsh on yourself.

“I have a look at myself and say, ‘This ain’t ok for me.’ I need to win. I don’t work hard to lose. I give every little thing I even have. I made sacrifices that were so hard to make, but I just have to do higher.”

Benn only appeared to have Eubank Jr. hurt once within the fight. It was Benn who was hurt several times within the later rounds, looking like he was in deep trouble in rounds 10, 11, and 12.
