[WATCH]- Pahalgam Terror Attack: Former Captain Urges India To End Ties With Pakistan

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has shared his views on the continuing debate about India cutting ties with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. Reports suggest that around 28 people lost their lives and plenty of others were injured within the tragic incident in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

The attack has led to widespread outrage and renewed discussions about whether India should proceed engaging with Pakistan in cricket or every other form. Sourav Ganguly asserted that ties needs to be severed and strict measures needs to be taken. He further emphasized that such incidents occur 12 months after 12 months and stressed that terrorism must not be tolerated.

“Todna bhi chahiye. 100% todna chahiye. Strict motion lena zaruri hai. Yeh koi mazak nahi hai yaar har saal aise hota rehta hai. Terrorism can’t be tolerated. (The ties needs to be broken. 100% it needs to be broken. It is crucial to take strict motion. This just isn’t a joke ever 12 months such incidents keep happening),” he said. (via ANI)

With regards to cricketing relations, India and Pakistan currently face one another only in ICC tournaments and other multi-nation events just like the Asia Cup.

India and Pakistan most recently faced off within the 2025 Champions Trophy held in Dubai

India and Pakistan last contested a bilateral series in 2012–13, when the Men in Blue hosted Pakistan for a white-ball series. Since then, as mentioned earlier, the 2 sides have only met in ICC tournaments and other multinational events. These encounters have been limited to neutral venues.

India last toured Pakistan in 2008 and has not traveled there for any cricketing event since. Each the BCCI and the Indian government declined to send the team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which took place earlier this 12 months. As an alternative, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India played their matches in Dubai.

They faced Pakistan in a high-profile clash there, securing a snug six-wicket victory, and ultimately went on to win the tournament. Each boards have agreed that moving forward, India and Pakistan will only face one another at neutral venues for ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.
