Bo Nickal ‘loses 37lb in a single week’ as he weighs in for UFC Des Moines co-main event

Bo Nickal has successfully made weight for UFC Des Moines after allegedly tipping the scales 37lb above the load at the beginning of fight week.

Middleweight contender Nickal faces former ONE Championship title holder Reinier De Ridder in the most important step up yet of his profession on Saturday night. The pair fight within the co-main event of UFC Des Moines, which is headlined by a bantamweight clash between Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo.

Nickal has never come near missing weight before in his UFC profession, but fans were keen to see him on the dimensions today. 4 days ago, he shared a video claiming that he weighed deep into heavyweight territory before starting his cut.

This morning within the fighter hotel for UFC Des Moines, Bo Nickal tipped the scales at 185.5lb for his fight with Reinier De Ridder. He was relatively early to the scales, and each men made the identical weight, with the Dutchman in truth looking worse for wear of the 2.

Nickal maintains that the video is legitimate, and told MMAFighting earlier this week that he had simply gone a bit of too heavy together with his pre-fight bulking. He insisted that the video was legitimate, noting that he was lighter when he removed his clothes and shoes.

“It’s the most important cut [for a fight] needless to say,” Nickal said. “I believe that I’m at all times seeking to adjust things and be sure that that I’m, in each camp and every training cycle, improving and improving, and I felt just like the [extra] size is something that’s good for me.”

During an earlier a part of the interview, he added: “An enormous a part of my last camp these previous few months has been to bulk up. I felt like that’s something that I desired to give attention to was getting my weight a bit of higher and ensuring that I’m a full-size middleweight.

“So coming in at the load, it’s just a part of the job for me. Bringing the load down is something that I’m used to. With wrestling, I’ve weighed in in a whole lot of times since I’ve been at a young age and it’s business as usual for me.

“In order that was definitely a bit of greater than what I’m used to, but a part of the job. No worries… It was a bit of heavier than what I expected, and I used to be wearing a hoodie and stuff like that.

“So it was a bit of lower than what we saw on the dimensions, but, yeah, I knew I had loads of work to do at that moment, nevertheless it is again, a part of the job.”
