People searching for a sunny getaway to Spain shall be left disenchanted because of hail and potential snow forecast for parts of the country.
On the flipside here within the UK, it is anticipated to be sunny with highs of 24°C in southern parts this weekend.
Orange alerts for storms, hail and possibly snow on higher ground have been issued by AEMET, Spain’s weather agency.
It posted on X: ‘Orange alerts for storms (significant danger) proceed into the early hours of Friday along the Catalan coast and Mallorca. They are going to form again within the afternoon.
‘Concentrate on Saturday: storms might be very intense and accompanied by hail, especially in areas of the northern peninsula.’
Where are the weather warnings in Spain?

Today that is impacting popular holiday hotspots including Mallorca within the Balearic Islands and Barcelona.
Storms could also grow to be intense and accompanied by hail across other parts of Spain including Catalonia, Castile, Valencia and eastern parts of Andalusia.
The heavy rain, storms and cloud are expected to last until next week as well in places corresponding to Mallorca and Menorca.
Despite it being warmer within the Canary Islands, like in Tenerife which is able to reach 22°C, heavy rainfall is anticipated tonight and into the weekend.
This poor weather is unusual for Spain during this time of 12 months and is being brought on by a low pressure system from the Atlantic.
On top of this, a chilly air mass is pushing its way across the Iberian Peninsula.
An influence outage hit Spain’s Canary Islands yesterday just per week after a nationwide outage.
At the very least 30,000 people were impacted across 20 towns for nearly two hours.
Places affected included Santa Cruz de La Palma, Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso, Tazacorte, Breña Alta, and Puntallana.
How does the UK weather forecast compare?

While there may be a risk of possible thunderstorms and showers within the south and west at times this weekend, high pressure will dominate.
Today stays sunny across large parts of the country, with the best temperatures in Wales and the Midlands at around 22°C.
There shall be a lot of sunshine and warmer temperatures to enjoy on Saturday, with highs of 24°C across eastern Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and the south of England.
The change within the weather comes on Saturday night, where there may be the danger of showers and possible thunderstorms overnight and into Sunday morning, bringing the danger of 25 to 35mm of rain in some parts.
But within the sunshine, temperatures could reach a whopping 26°C and 27°C.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Dan Harris, said: ‘From Saturday night, into Sunday morning, there may be an increasing likelihood of rain, showers and isolated thunderstorms moving northwards across the southwest of the UK.
‘As we proceed through Sunday and into Monday, this may extend to other western parts of Great Britain and into Northern Ireland too.
‘On Monday itself, we could see some particularly vigorous thunderstorms developing, almost definitely in Wales and parts of southern England, whilst elsewhere during this whole period, dry, nice, and increasingly warm conditions are expected.’
