Apple TV+ announced on Tuesday, July 1, that “iCarly” star McCurdy’s bestselling memoir goes to be was a television series.
“I’m Glad My Mom Died” will probably be was a 10-episode dramedy that McCurdy will function showrunner and author. While it’s inspired by McCurdy’s bestselling memoir, it’s going to be a more fictionalized version of the book. Aniston will probably be playing the lead role of McCurdy’s narcissistic and controlling mother, in addition to executive produce the show.
The show will center on the connection between the kid actress and her mother. Casting for McCurdy’s character hasn’t been announced yet, nor has a release date.

McCurdy often celebrated the book’s success on her Instagram page. On the 40-week mark, she shared a post celebrating the massive success. She captioned the post, “No I’m not turning 40 lol. Jennette McCurdy Took Her Book On Tour
To advertise “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” McCurdy took her book on the road for a number of months, visiting quite a lot of locations. One memorable stop for the actress was Sydney, Australia.
“Speaking on the Sydney Opera House was unforgettable!! Years ago, I hit what I consider my ‘all-time low’ in Australia, within the backseat of an Uber, while taking a look at the Sydney Opera House from afar, down a tooth and a number of hope, fresh off purging my Tim Tams,” she shared.
“I used to be at a spot where I didn’t really imagine things could recuperate but knew if there was any probability of that occuring, of things changing, that I used to be gonna have to start out by changing the one thing I had any control over: myself.”

She further explained why she’s so happy with her accomplishments and returning to Australia under “different circumstances.”

McCurdy began acting on the young age of 8 and eventually rose to stardom while co-starring on “iCarly” on Nickelodeon. She later shifted to the spinoff, “Sam & Cat” with Ariana Grande.
Her memoir takes readers on her journey as a baby star whose mother was mentally and physically abusive. It details the nice, the bad, and every thing in between throughout her journey.
She shared stories about her narcissistic mother’s abuse, what it was like for her being a baby actor, how she battled an eating disorder, and other dark and heartbreaking moments, but with some humor mixed in to lighten the mood.

Being Forced Into Acting By Her Mother

Within the memoir, McCurdy shares how she was forced into acting at a young age by her mother and the trauma that followed. She told PEOPLE that her “earliest memories of childhood were of heaviness and chaos” because of her mother’s “emotions” being “so erratic.” She likened it to “walking a tightrope every single day.”
She wrote about how her mom was obsessed together with her becoming a star and the lengths she went to ensure that it happened. She also explained why she went together with it and shared the way it affected her health and the way she healed.
“It was only distance from [my mom] that allowed me to get healthy,” she told PEOPLE.
