Thomas Muller has ruled out the prospect of joining Manchester United this summer but admits a move to Old Trafford has appealed to him ‘repeatedly’.

The 35-year-old will call time on his profession at Bayern Munich after their Club World Cup campaign this summer and shall be available on a free transfer.

Muller, who has won 33 trophies with Bayern, is anticipated to make the move to Major League Soccer.

The German forward was wanted by Louis van Gaal during his reign as United manager in 2015 and admits he was tempted by a switch to the Premier League.

‘Yeah, I considered it,’ Muller told CBS Sports.

‘There have been some moments I believed it could be nice to experience it.’

But when asked if a move to United ‘looked appealing’, Muller replied: ‘Again and again… or do you mean now?

‘Now? No, no. I’m not the fitting guy for them they usually usually are not the fitting club for me. They won’t have a good time and I won’t have a good time in order that’s not a match.’

Muller also backed Florian Wirtz to turn out to be a hit at Liverpool following his £116 million move from Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich had also held talks to sign Wirtz before the Germany international opted to hitch Liverpool as an alternative.

‘I believe Florian will fit in every single place because he’s not only a great football player, a superb football player, for my part also his mental skills are strong,’ Muller said.

‘Yeah, the value tag, in the long run we’re used to it a bit of bit to cope with it.

‘The expectations are so high but €150 million, that’s unreal anyway, so it’s only a number between clubs.

‘What human person can feel what €150m is about. With €150m you don’t get a Neymar but you possibly can plant what number of trees? How do you must charge what €150m get you? Some stuff you don’t get with €150m and a few things you possibly can get easily.

‘Ultimately, for me, you shouldn’t judge due to price tag.

‘Possibly he’ll need time to regulate since the game is different. But in the long run, the German players I met in my profession who did the move to the Premier League at all times adjusted well, they even improve, so possibly it’s a great move, not for us as a club but in the long run we now have to simply accept it and beat him next yr.’
