Sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan shared that it was Jasprit Bumrah who took the initiative to propose marriage. Speaking on a chat show alongside her husband, she recounted how the pacer had thoughtfully planned the proposal through the IPL 2020 season within the UAE, at a time when players were living in a bio-secure bubble attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bumrah and Sanjana tied the knot in March 2021 after dating for just a few years and welcomed their son Angad in September 2023. Appearing on the show Who’s The Boss?, hosted by Geeta Basra and Harbhajan Singh, the couple revealed that Bumrah proposed through the IPL 2020 within the UAE while they were in a COVID-19 bubble. He also shared how he planned the special moment.
“That was during COVID time. So, there have been bubbles for each team. As luck would have it, she was in KKR and I used to be with Mumbai Indians (MI). Each the teams were in Abu Dhabi. I carried a hoop in hope that perhaps after the tournament ends I’ll get a likelihood. Other than the bottom interaction, we couldn’t meet due to the bubble.”
“So, she was out. Then, I had to inform folks that look, I’ve brought this ring. Please arrange a bubble to bubble transfer. So, that transfer happened. When she arrived, I did every little thing myself. I placed the cake myself, decorated every little thing in my room and I had the ring ready,” the Indian lead pacer continued.
“Mujhe Laga Girlfriend Ya Wife Hogi”– Bumrah, Sanjana Recall Funny First Meeting
Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan shared a funny memory of their first meeting through the 2019 ODI World Cup in England on the show Who’s The Boss?. Sanjana joked that since Bumrah didn’t greet her, she assumed he was either married or had a girlfriend watching him. The couple later married in March 2021 and welcomed their son Angad in September 2023.
“So, this was in 2019 within the World Cup. I used to be working there, so I used to be obviously around practices rather a lot. I do know quite a lot of the opposite boys like DK [Dinesh Karthik], etc. Once I used to walk onto the sphere, they used to wave ‘hi’ very casually and I might go about my work. And Jasprit, he’s standing in a bunch of folks that are all saying ‘hi’ to me and he’s making this face (stoic expression).”
“Mujhe laga perhaps girlfriend hogi, wife hogi [I thought maybe his girlfriend or wife would be watching]. She have to be seeing him sitting from somewhere. I noticed him because he had this wall up and he’s like primary to ‘hi’ nahi bolunga, eye contact bhi nahi banaunga. Major toh aise dekunga. [I won’t talk or make eye contact. I will give this look]. I used to be like either I actually have done something or that’s his personality.”
