- Gill became the seventh Indian captain after Ajit Wadekar, Kapil Dev (twice), Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli (twice) to win a Test match in England.
- Shubman Gill became the youngest India captain to win a Test match overseas. Gill, who’s 25 years and 301 days old, broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record. Gavaskar was 26 years and 202 days old when he won his first Test as India captain against Latest Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland in 1976.
- Shubman Gill scored a complete of 430 runs within the 2nd Test, which helped him break Gavaskar’s record of scoring essentially the most runs in a Test match for India. Gavaskar scored 344 (120 and 224) against the West Indies in 1971.
