In what has come as a significant blow to Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star bowler Yash Dayal, a First Information Report has been registered against him in a sexual harassment case, and he has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after serious charges were levelled against him.
The FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station after a preliminary investigation right into a grievance filed via the Chief Minister’s grievance portal, IGRS.
Section 69 of the BNS addresses the offence of sexual activity with a girl through deceitful means, by making a false promise of marriage without the intention to fulfil it.
As per the grievance, the lady alleged that she was in a five-year-long relationship with Yash, during which he exploited her under the false promise of marriage.
The girl claimed that Yash introduced her to his family and behaved as if they were a married couple, further deepening her trust.
The grievance said that Yash took money from the lady during their relationship and has behaved with other women up to now in an analogous manner.
The girl claimed that when she confronted Yash about his alleged deceit and relationships with other women, she was subjected to physical violence and manipulation.
The girl’s appeal calls for swift legal motion and underscores the plight of ladies who, she says, fall victim to similar patterns of manipulation disguised as romantic relationships.
In response to the lady’s grievance, the police initiated an inquiry, citing corroborative evidence and her testimony, and registered the case.
Yash last featured for Bengaluru in IPL 2025, where he played a significant role in his franchise’s first title win.
Investigators have confirmed that legal proceedings are in progress and Dayal’s arrest will rely upon additional corroboration and the final result of ongoing procedural steps.
On Monday, the police registered an FIR after the grievance. They said that the case is under investigation and appropriate motion will probably be taken based on the findings that emerge.
