Madras HC Send Rs 5 Cr Notice To Nayanthara’s Documentary Producers For Using Chandramukhi Footage| Bollywood Bubble

The controversy surrounding the Netflix documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale’ continues to accentuate, with the most recent development being a legal notice issued to the filmmakers by the High Court. The problems related to the documentary premiered on Netflix in November 2024, has escalated. It explores Nayanthara’s personal and skilled life. Following Dhanush’s lawsuit against Nayanthara and the documentary’s producers, the creators of the 2005 hit film ‘Chandramukhi’ have now taken legal motion. The notices were issued after AP International, the rights holder of ‘Chandramukhi’ from the unique producers Sivaji Productions, filed a plea. AP International holds the audio and video rights to the film. This excludes certain audio cassette and CD rights in some countries. They contend that the documentary makers and Netflix used footage from ‘Chandramukhi’ without prior approval or licensing. They alleged sourcing clips from YouTube as an alternative.

The corporate has sent a stop and desist letter and is demanding Rs 5 crore in damages. Additionally they claim that the producers only approached them to amass rights after the footage had already been used. Currently, AP International is searching for a everlasting injunction to stop further use of ‘Chandramukhi’ footage within the documentary.
