Bam Margera has revealed he nearly lost his legs resulting from alcohol abuse, but is now fully recovered and back to skateboarding.
The famous skateboarder credited his wife, Dannii Marie, for helping him regain his health, as after years of legal troubles and addiction, he’s now focused on recovery.
Dannii Marie once opened up about how she stayed by his side to make sure Bam Margera remained sober, even going to date as to vary his phone number to maintain the “bad people” away.

Bam Margera Says He Nearly Lost His Legs To Alcohol Abuse
Margera opened up concerning the severe toll alcohol abuse has taken on his life, revealing he got here dangerously near losing his legs.
The 45-year-old former “Jackass” star, whose full name is Brandon Cole Margera, shared his story during an event for the upcoming “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4” video game, reflecting on a turbulent period he described as feeling completely “lost.”
In a conversation with TMZ, Margera likened his recent resurgence to Elvis Presley’s legendary 1968 Comeback Special.
“I got lost for a bit while and didn’t skate for 10 years,” he said. “And I spotted, ‘What made me comfortable? What got me to where I used to be then?’ And it was skateboarding.”

However the road back hasn’t been easy. Recalling how bad things had gotten, Margera shared, “You already know, in 2013, the doctor said they were dry-rotted rubber bands from alcohol abuse, so I sort of lost hope. But now they’re back to 100percent. I’m skating again.”

Now, thanks largely to his wife, Dannii Marie, a stretch coach, Margera has worked hard to revive his physical health.
“They’re back to 100%,” he said proudly. “I’m skating again. My passion’s back.”
He continued: “My passion’s back and I do know that if I just deal with skateboarding, then every part else comes together with it. You already know, while you love what you do, and folks can see that.”
“That is when every part else comes with it. You already know, I’m a one hundred pc skateboarder, so I’m just gonna keep on with that unless I’m too injured,” Margera added.

The Skateboarder Was Embroiled In Several Legal Battles

Margera’s comeback in 2025 comes after years of private and legal struggles.
In 2021, he was faraway from the “Jackass Without end” project after allegedly violating a wellness agreement tied to his role.
In 2023, he was arrested twice, once for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and again for causing a scene at a Burbank restaurant where his ex-wife, Nicole Boyd, and their son, Phoenix, were dining.
Following a DUI parole violation, Margera was incarcerated but released in September 2023.
He entered a short-term rehab program and is now specializing in recovery and rebuilding each his health and profession.

Margera and Marie tied the knot on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in an intimate ceremony on the Val Verde Historic Hotel in Socorro County, Latest Mexico.
The skateboarder confirmed the comfortable news on the time by reposting a report by TMZ on his Instagram page.
Marie’s influence on Margera’s life is well documented. In his vows, he credited her for helping him do away with “all of the d-ckheads and goons and made me stop drinking.”
In accordance with Page Six, Marie once shared how she was capable of keep him sober and healthy after he was ordered to wear an alcohol-detecting monitor in August 2023.
“He went through [detox] and I didn’t go anywhere. We stayed on this beautiful crystal-infested pool house where we just healed, all of us, and we shut the phones off,” Marie recalled.
She added, “I modified his number and we just X’d the bad people, and here we’re.”
