Ekta Kapoor stands tall as one of the influential figures in Indian entertainment, with a remarkable profession spanning over three many years. A powerhouse of creativity, she has been the driving force behind among the most successful and culturally impactful projects across television, OTT platforms, and movies. Greater than only a producer, Ekta has turn out to be a brand synonymous with trendsetting content.
Because the mastermind behind Balaji Telefilms, she has given Indian audiences countless iconic shows that defined an era. Amongst her many groundbreaking creations, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi – which premiered 25 years ago, stays a landmark that redefined the landscape of Indian television. Now, because the show is all set for its latest season, Ekta shared the thought of bringing it back after so a few years for the audience.
Ekta Kapoor On Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s Return
Ekta took to her social media and answered the query of, “Why Kyunki, Why Now?” She shared a lengthy post that began together with her saying, “When the twenty fifth 12 months of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ was approaching and the thought of relaunching it surfaced, my first response was a firm no! Why would I would like to shake up nostalgia? You possibly can never compete with nostalgia. It at all times stays supreme. How I remember my childhood and the way it really was, will at all times be different.”
She added, “ALSO The tv space has modified. Once depending on 9 cities, audiences now eat content in fragments, scattered across platforms. Would this shake the legacy of Kyunki, the long-lasting TRP nobody ever achieved before and after? But was that really the legacy of the show? Was it only a show with high numbers?”
Ekta continued, “Research carried out by a global body once concluded that the show gave a voice to women in Indian homes. Between 2000 and 2005, for the primary time, women began participating in family discussions, a shift deeply influenced by Indian television, especially ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki.”
Ekta Kapoor: Kyunki Wasn’t Just A Day by day Soap…
Ekta Kapoor added, “Kyunki became a world ambassador, carrying forward India’s storytelling traditions worldwide. It wasn’t only a each day soap, it brought discussions about domestic rape, marital rape, age shaming and euthanasia to the dining tables of Indian homes. That was the true legacy of the story.”
She continued, “In conversations with peers, the abrupt ending of the show lingered in our minds. It was unfinished. So when Kevin Vaz, his team and the network heads and the Balaji team got right into a discussion I assumed to myself… Can we keep Kyunki away from today’s storytelling formats and focus once more on the problems that television once bravely addressed and handled? Can we make it about impactful stories, not TRPs? Can we reclaim the ability to succeed in hundreds of thousands to truly change mindsets and thoughts?”
She further noted, “Can we discuss parenting? The balance between concern and control? Can we speak about issues that we shrink back from today? Can we use probably the most beloved and probably the most integrated platform in India, Television, to inform a story that resonates, and doubtless educates with equal amounts of entertainment? Can we bring back the time when a family sat on a dinner table and made conversations? The moment I asked this to myself, I got the reply, with a smile on my face.”
Ekta: The Fight Is Not About Winning, It’s About Impact
Ekta Kapoor’s post further read, “I said, “Let’s do that! Let’s create a show that’s not afraid to lift necessary questions, that sparks conversations, and stands out within the time dominated by visual gimmicks. Kyunki is coming back with limited episodes, to rejoice 25 years with an intent to affect, entertain, probe thoughts and most significantly, to encourage. With a number of entertainment, excitement and heartfelt emotions.”
While concluding, Ekta added, “Here’s to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi – to what it stands for, giving a voice, bringing a much-awaited change, to its history and for what it holds in store for us. In fact, without sounding preachy but by being relatable and inclusive.” She signed off by saying, “Cheers to Kyunki, cheers to the ability of storytelling, cheers to less of what happened before and cheers to what is going to come! We’ll never win against nostalgia. The fight though, shouldn’t be about winning. It’s about Impact! To the show that’s not only ours, but in addition yours too!”
