The wife of an aviation CEO ran over and killed a 24-year-old woman in Sardinia before she flew back home to Germany.
Gaia Costa died after the SUV struck her as she crossed the road on a zebra crossing in Porto Cervo on Tuesday.
Vivian Alexandra Spohr, a manager and wife of German aviation company Lufthana’s CEO Carsten Spohr was reportedly driving the vehicle.
Emergency services spent greater than 20 minutes on the scene attempting to revive Gaia, but was knocked to the bottom and banged her head and died on the scene.
Vivian is being investigated for negligent homicide in road traffic, in accordance with Italian outlet La Repubblica.
But she returned to Munich because the prosecutor registered her as a suspect.

She was in Sardinia on holiday at her family’s vacation home.
Vivian’s lawyers said in an announcement: ‘Vivian Spohr, who was involved within the tragic death, expresses her dismay and deep regret over this very serious accident.’
Mayor Gianni Addis said: ‘Gaia was a young woman who was deeply involved in town’s social and cultural life.
‘She was captivated with our traditions and never missed the parades of the local folk group.’
