‘Theater Camp’ (2023)
If you’ve gotten ever gone to summer camp, you could watch this movie. In case you were ever in a play as a toddler, you could watch this movie. Theater Camp was cowritten by Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) and Molly Gordon (The Bear) and directed by Gordon and follows a performing arts camp that winds up in trouble when the camp director (Amy Sedaris) falls right into a coma. Her son Troy (Jimmy Tatro), who’s more into crypto than creativity, steps as much as run the camp — and shortly learns he has to put it aside from financial disaster.
Theater Camp is a loving ode to the weirdos who make art, at their best and their worst. There isn’t any wasted dialogue — each minute of this movie has a joke in it, nevertheless it never feels mocking or mean-spirited. The supporting solid, which incorporates Platt and Gordon as best friends struggling to cowrite considered one of the summer’s productions in addition to Ayo Edebiri as an inexperienced acting teacher, is hilarious, but imbues the story with emotional depth along with humor. If the ultimate song doesn’t bring a bit tear to your eye, you owe us a cup of real throat-coat tea.

‘Big Fish’ (2003)
Storytelling is our passion here at Watch With Us, and Big Fish is an ode to tellers of tall tales. Will Bloom (Billy Crudup) has never believed his father Edward’s (portrayed by Ewan McGregor and Albert Finney) larger-than-life stories, but as his father’s health begins to wane, Will begins to analyze the fantastical truth behind his dad’s life. It seems that the young Edward Bloom had many adventures, which include a circus ringmaster with a robust secret (Danny DeVito), a misunderstood giant (Matthew McGrory) and a fated true like to his wife Sandra (Alison Lohman and Jessica Lange)
Funny, touching and fantastical, Big Fish is a story of what makes life price living and the stories that stick with us endlessly — whether or not they’re true or almost-true. The evolving relationship between Edward and Will is the through line of the story, and it’s one of the vital heartfelt father-son tales we’ve ever seen.

‘Sleeping with Other People’ (2015)
This relationship comedy stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie as two sex addicts who develop into best friends, consistently denying their growing attraction to at least one one other. Jake (Sudeikis) has a crippling fear of commitment, while Lainey (Brie) is obsessed together with her ex (Adam Scott), with whom she’s carried on a decades-long affair despite his relationship with one other woman.
Sleeping with Other People is sort of a raunchier, more emotionally complex Friends with Advantages, and while the happily ever after of the love story isn’t exactly surprising, the twists and turns the story takes along the way in which are seriously entertaining. Brie and Sudeikis are so appealing that they may sell any story — so it helps that on this one, the script is sharp and the emotional pitfalls are poignant.
