17-year-old Ayush Mhatre is leading the India U-19 cricket team in the primary youth Test against England. On Day 1 of the match happening on the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham, Mhatre opened the innings and scored 102 runs from 115 balls. During his stay on the crease, the right-handed batter from Mumbai hammered 14 fours and two sixes. He accomplished his maiden century in youth Tests by hitting Archie Vaughan for a 4 on the primary ball of the thirty sixth over of India’s first innings.

The clip of Mhatre hitting Archie, who’s the son of former England Test captain Michael Vaughan, is now going viral on the web.

During his stay on the crease on Saturday (July 12), Mhatre added 17 runs for the primary wicket with Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14 runs from 13 balls) and 173 runs for the second wicket with Vihaan Malhotra (67 runs from 99 balls).

He was sent back to the pavilion by Archie on the primary ball of the thirty eighth over.

Before scoring a century within the youth Test, Mhatre played 4 youth ODIs as well against the English team but could only manage to attain 27 runs in 4 matches.

Mhatre, who made his first-class debut for Mumbai within the 2024 Irani Cup final at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, made headlines for his super show with the bat within the IPL 2025. He was signed as an injury substitute for Ruturaj Gaikwad by the Chennai-based franchise, and he made his debut on this planet’s richest franchise cricket league against the Mumbai Indians on April 20, 2025.

Within the match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mhatre, after coming out to bat at No. 3, scored 32 runs from 15 balls with the assistance of 4 fours and two sixes.

His best batting performance within the IPL 2025 was within the CSK-RCB match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 3, 2025. Within the 52nd league match, Mhatre opened the innings for the MS Dhoni-led side and scored 94 runs from 48 balls (9 fours, 5 sixes). But his effort went in vain as Men in Yellow did not chase down the goal of 214 runs and lost the match by two runs.
