Not less than six people have been killed in a mass shooting at a grocery store in Thailand.

The attack happened at Or Tor Kor – a market normally buzzing with tourists – within the Chatuchak district in northern Bangkok.

Shots rang out, sending crowds running for canopy, because the assailant targeted people indiscriminately before reportedly turning the weapon on himself.

One market vendor and three security guards have been identified as among the victims of the deadly attack.

Footage circulating on social media shows the apparent shooter charging down the road with what looks like a gun in his hand.

Local media identified him as a 61-year-old man from the Khong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

He is known to be a former security guard and had previously worked at the identical company because the three personnel who were shot to death.

Worapat Sukthai, deputy police chief of Bangkok’s Bang Sue district, said: ‘Police are investigating the motive. To this point, it’s a mass shooting.’
