Less is more? Counties have their say on 2026 schedule

The battle lines are being drawn, the media releases readied, the statements disseminated. County cricket’s civil war is here and it’s… oddly underwhelming.
Up for grabs is the domestic schedule from 2026 onwards. We are going to almost definitely lose a few T20 games and perhaps a few first-class ones too.
But there’ll still be a County Championship, a T20 Blast, a One-Day Cup. The world as we all know it’ll go on. It just is likely to be just a little smaller.

Various counties have made their positions clear. Yorkshire, Surrey, Somerset and Middlesex all need to stay at 14 County Championship game…
