Malayalam Legend Prem Nazir’s Son Shanavas Passes Away At 71 Due To Kidney & Heart Ailments

Veteran Malayalam actor Shanavas, son of legendary actor Prem Nazir, passed away late Monday night on the age of 70. He had been affected by heart and kidney problems for the past 4 years. His condition worsened on Monday night, and he was admitted to a non-public hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he died around 11:50 pm.

Malayalam Actor Shanavas Dies At 71

Shanavas was born in Thiruvananthapuram to Prem Nazir and Habeeba Beevi. He accomplished his education at Chirayinkeezhu English Medium School, Montfort School, and Yercaud. He later earned a master’s degree in English Literature from Recent College, Chennai.

Shanavas began his film profession in 1981 with Premageethangal, directed by Balachandra Menon. He went on to act in greater than 50 Malayalam and Tamil movies. A few of his notable movies include Mazhanilavu, Eeyugam, Maniyara, Neelagiri, Garbhashreemaan, and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal. After a break from movies, he made a comeback in 2011 with China Town. His final film appearance was in Jana Gana Mana, starring Prithviraj.

Aside from movies, Shanavas was also energetic in television. He acted in lots of popular serials equivalent to Shankhumukham, Velutha Kathreena, Kadamatathu Kathanar, and Sathyameva Jayathe.

He’s survived by his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz and sons Ajith Khan and Shameer Khan. His daughter-in-law, Hana, can also be a part of the family. They lived in Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram.

Shanavas’s funeral shall be held on Tuesday at 5 pm on the Palayam Muslim Jamaath Cemetery. Family, friends, and fans are expected to collect to pay their final respects to the actor.
