Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson warned Terence Crawford to not take the fight against Canelo Alvarez, months before their historic clash was booked.
On September 13, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will clash in certainly one of the most important boxing fights in recent memory, with the winner taking the undisputed super middleweight title.
The fight will headline TKO Boxing‘s inaugural event after it was announced that UFC boss Dana White will probably be the important promoter, with the backing of Turki Alalshikh.
Alalshikh recently made a giant revelation that the event will happen over ‘a few days’, as they’re keen to point out off a number of the upcoming prospects in the game.
Although this is about to be an enormous super fight, Crawford was warned against taking the fight months before he signed his name on the dotted line.
Mike Tyson urged Crawford to not fight Canelo Alvarez
At one point, it seemed almost guaranteed that Canelo would fight Jake Paul in a highly controversial fight, but in the ultimate hour of negotiations, Alalshikh signed Canelo to an exclusive deal as he desired to make the super fight against Crawford.
For the fight, Crawford will probably be moving up two weight classes to tackle the Mexican champion, which has been deemed an especially bad idea by former heavyweight king, Mike Tyson.
“Man, he can do what he wants but I don’t think that’s a superb idea. I just don’t think it’s a superb idea. What would he have, I don’t know, I don’t think it’s a superb idea, people have done things crazy like that before, I just think he doesn’t must do it,” Tyson told ES News over a 12 months ago.
Tyson isn’t the one fighter to have warned Crawford about taking the fight against Canelo, with several former pros showing concern for the difference in weight between the 2.
Despite the widespread concern, Crawford has actually been backed to beat Canelo by the one fighter to have shared the ring with them each, Amir Khan.
Dmitry Bivol gives Crawford some advice ahead of Canelo clash
Canelo has only been beaten twice throughout his storied profession, and despite being beaten by Dmitry Bivol in 2022, he earned his biggest ever fight purse in keeping with reports.
And ahead of the Mexican’s fight against ‘Bud’, Bivol has offered Crawford some words of technical advice which could help him turn into just the third fighter to beat the all-time great.
