Goldberg ended his WWE Hall of Fame profession not too way back, after a title match against then-World Heavyweight Champion Gunther on “Saturday Night’s Essential Event.” Nevertheless, since then, the veteran has shared several details about what went into putting the match together, a few of which he wasn’t blissful about, in addition to addressing among the criticism fans had of him throughout the match.
Looking back on the bout during an episode of “Grilling JR,” Jim Ross identified how Goldberg actually got here out of the match unscathed, despite taking a loss, and proclaimed that he’s at all times been a fan of Goldberg himself. “As a fan and someone that is known Bill since his highschool days, I wasn’t upset in it in any respect; I assumed they did a tremendous job,” he expressed, but showed some empathy for the veteran. “I can understand his frustration. Nevertheless it actually doesn’t mark his legacy in a negative way.”
In line with Ross and his cohost Conrad Thompson, Goldberg hasn’t marketed his final WWE match as his retirement match, and suggested that there could be more moments within the ring left for the veteran. “I believe somewhere down the road, I do not know exactly what the presentation’s gonna be, but I do not think we have seen the last of Goldberg,” Ross suggested. “I believe if booked accurately, not over exposed, he’s with the appropriate opponent, dress that match up with the appropriate opponent – really could possibly be, actually, back within the hunt or something.”
‘He was ‘Brock Lesnar’ before there was a Brock Lesnar’
Goldberg’s presentation as a monster of a person who dominated a lot of the locker room is not something fans often see within the realm of professional wrestling anymore, but today, his wrestling style gets numerous criticism online. Despite this, Goldberg did so much to pave the best way for others to follow in his footsteps, and based on Jim Ross, has proven that he can still be a draw today. “I do not say Bill is one-dimensional; he’s got a certain style that he utilizes, that is essential, and it is important to him to take care of that,” Ross explained. “He was ‘Brock Lesnar’ before there was a Brock Lesnar; quite frankly.” Ross then maintained that he thinks the ultimate WWE match did what it got down to be, and praised Gunther for his part in sending Goldberg off. “I’m an enormous Gunther fan,” Ross added.
While Goldberg was an enormous name in WCW and his first run with WWE, his later run with the promotion has been harshly criticized, which Ross acknowledged and described the Hall of Famer as a polarizing wrestler. “You either like him so much or you do not. I do – by the best way – and, good for him, he’s been , loyal friend of mine for years,” he explained. “So far as my relationship with Bill Goldberg is anxious, it’s everlasting.” Interestingly, Ross admitted that Goldberg is not a natural at wrestling but did job at laying a legacy for himself despite his critics.
