Yash Dayal was signed for Rs 7 lakh by the Gorakhpur Lions team for the third edition of the UP T20 League, which is about to begin on August 17.

27-year-old fast bowler Yash Dayal is not going to play within the third edition of the UP T20 League, which is about to begin on August 17. In keeping with a report in Dainik Jagran on August 9, Dayal, who played a giant role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 title win earlier this 12 months, is not going to represent the Gorakhpur Lions team, which signed him for Rs 7 lakh.
It has been reported that following the registration of a case against Dayal on the Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has banned him from participating within the upcoming UP T20 League.
In keeping with a UPCA source, a case has been registered against Dayal, which is why the board doesn’t want him to play within the T20 league. The board has informed the franchise not to incorporate him.
Dayal’s record in IPL
Dayal has played for 2 teams – Gujarat Titans and RCB – within the IPL and has dismissed 41 batters in 43 matches. He won the IPL title with GT in 2022 under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, and in that season, he picked up 11 wickets in nine matches. In 2023, he was hit for five sixes within the last five balls of the match by KKR batter Rinku Singh.
He joined RCB within the IPL 2024 auction and picked up 15 wickets for them within the 2024 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league. RCB retained Dayal ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and within the IPL this 12 months, he accounted for the dismissal of 13 batters in 15 matches.
Rajasthan HC denies interim protection from arrest
The Rajasthan High Court declined to halt the arrest of Dayal in a case in regards to the alleged rape of a minor girl on Wednesday (August 6).
The court emphasised that no interim protection from arrest may be granted to the accused cricketer for the reason that victim is a minor.
Justice Sudesh Bansal, presiding over the matter in Jaipur, summoned the case diary and scheduled the subsequent hearing for August 22.
In the course of the hearing, Yash Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, contended that the case was a part of a broader conspiracy aimed toward defaming the cricketer.
