“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss is facing backlash online after fans began theorizing whether she was a supporter of President Donald Trump.
After sharing a video of her in-depth interview with fellow reality star Todd Chrisley, who was recently pardoned and released from federal prison by Trump, members of the Bravoverse began slamming Kandi Burruss for allegedly pledging her allegiance to the present Commander-in-Chief.

‘Real Housewives’ Fans Are Upset With Kandi Burruss For Seemingly Pledging Her Allegiance To Donald Trump
Earlier this week, Burruss, who began appearing in episodes of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” in 2009, shared a snippet of her interview with “Chrisley Knows Best” star Todd, who has been on a press tour since being released from “Federal Prison Camp” in Pensacola, Florida, in the summertime of 2025.
On her Instagram, Burruss told her followers that the truth star, who stars in the brand new docuseries, “The Chrisleys,” had much to say about his family life, religious beliefs, things he wishes he could change about his legal situation, and far more.
And that is not all that Burruss and Todd touched on. In one other teaser clip for the interview, Todd also opened as much as Burruss about his funds and the affair he was accused of getting along with his male business partner.

Although Burruss likely hoped the interview can be met with a positive response from the general public, she experienced quite the other.
The truth is, many users rushed to social media to slam the mother of three for allegedly supporting a family that was found guilty of fraud crimes and being a supporter of President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” agenda.

Social Media Reacts To Kandi Burruss’ Interview With Todd Chrisley
On Reddit, a user posted about Burruss’ interview with Todd and asked the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” subreddit whether or not they believed Burruss was a “MAGA” supporter, considering the Chrisley family hasn’t been shy about hiding their love for the politician. One user replied almost immediately, writing that the Bravo star only “cares about money … as most wealthy people do.”
A second user agreed and shared how they consider Burruss has “really proven herself to be a chunk of sh-t person ever since she got off of the show.” One other person wrote that Burruss may very well be a Trump supporter because she’s “loyal to nobody but Kandi. And money.”

Another person also chimed in and blasted the Grammy winner for being “garbage,” pointing to her alleged support of Sean “Diddy” Combs and past behavior during seasons of “RHOA.”
“Questionable at best. Very dark at worst,” they commented.

Kandi Burruss Faced Backlash In The Past For Showing Support To The Chrisley Family

And this would not be the primary time Burruss has faced pressure from social media users about her close relationship with the Chrisley family. Following their release from prison, Burruss commented on Chase Chrisley’s Instagram post, congratulating the 29-year-old for being reunited with their family. The “No Scrubs” author also posted about how “joyful” she was to see every part work out of their favor.
An internet fan account noticed Burruss’ comment and shared it on X, formerly Twitter, which prompted much more people to query the previous “Real Housewives” star’s intentions. Nevertheless, Burruss clapped back on the haters and defended her relationship with Todd and his family.
“What is the problem?” she wrote in June 2025, as reported by The Blast. “Todd [and] I were cool before he ever had this legal issue.” Burruss added, “I’m joyful that him [and] Julie are out of jail. What y’all so pressed for? Me being joyful for them has nothing to do with my political views.”

Why Were The Chrisleys Sent To Prison?

For those unfamiliar with the Chrisleys’ legal woes, in November 2022, Todd and Julie were sentenced to 12 and 7 years, respectively, in federal prison, in line with the United States Attorney’s Office in Georgia. The legal documents reveal that the Chrisley family was found guilty of defrauding banks out of “tens of hundreds of thousands of dollars” while also failing to pay taxes from 2013 to 2016.
U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said the truth TV couple worked together to defraud community banks in certain parts of Atlanta out of greater than $35 million in personal loans. To acquire the loans, Buchanan said the Chrisleys submitted a variety of falsified documents, including bank statements and audit reports.
The legal documents also revealed that Todd and Julie used the cash that they obtained from personal loans on “luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel.” The family then later used “latest fraudulent loans to pay back old ones.”

Donald Trump Pardoned The Chrisleys
Throughout their legal issues, the Chrisleys at all times maintained their innocence. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, fought vigorously for her parents while they were incarcerated, attending appeal hearings and calling on President Trump’s administration to review the facts of their case.
In May 2025, Trump called Savannah to tell her that her efforts had not gone unnoticed and that her parents can be pardoned and released from custody, before wishing the remainder of her family well.
Online, Savannah praised Trump and thanked him for his decision, saying, “I’ll ceaselessly be grateful to President Trump, his administration, and everybody along the best way.”
Her brother, Chase, also shared a post of his own, writing, “We love, support, and thanks, Mr. President! God bless you and your entire family! Proceed to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!”
