During today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, UFO 50 quietly launched on Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive. The gathering of fifty single-player and multiplayer games comes from Mossmouth, the developer of Spelunky. UFO 50 originally launched on Steam last September, earning an Overwhelmingly Positive user review rating and a Metacritic rating of 91. The 50 games span multiple genres, from platformers and puzzle games to roguelites and RPGs. One consistent element is the 8-bit aesthetic, which takes players back to the NES era while incorporating modern game design.

You would possibly think lots of these are only minigames or microgames, but they are usually not. Game sizes vary, but each offers an entire experience—some RPGs can take many hours to beat. UFO 50 will likely be right at home on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, since most of the games might be enjoyed in handheld mode.
