Greg Slaughter visits but Tim Cone says ‘nothing within the works’

MANILA, Philippines–Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Greg Slaughter’s visit was nothing greater than just that.

“Really blissful that he came over, but nothing [is] within the works,” Cone said when asked by The Inquirer on Tuesday.

Slaughter posted a photograph of himself and Cone on Instagram, prompting netizens and Ginebra fans to invest if there’s something brewing throughout the Ginebra camp.

The image took place on the San Miguel Corporation sports complex along C-5 road in Pasig City.

Things seem well between Cone and Slaughter, who played for Ginebra from 2013 to 2020 before leaving in 2021 after his contract expired with NorthPort.

The Batang Pier, whose franchise is rumored to be on sale, currently holds Slaughter’s playing rights.

He had a stint in Japan’s B.League in 2022 before returning home to play within the MPBL for Manila and currently with Basilan.

Slaughter had a contract dispute with Ginebra in 2020 and subsequently skipped the Philippine Cup bubble in Pampanga before suiting up for NorthPort in 2021 after being dealt for Christian Standhardinger.
