“I don’t think it’s. I believe that they’re probably going to be pretty content starting the season and seeing what things appear to be, seeing what sort of start Connor Bedard gets off to. If you happen to’ve been watching any of the social media clips, I don’t know in the event you saw this, but there was a ridiculous backhand, no look backhand spinorama that Bedard had in a I assume you’d call it a professional skate, probably in Vancouver on Wednesday or Thursday, like he has done some things with that release and that shot which have been unbelievable.

NHL Rumors: Mason McTavish, Montreal Canadiens, and Is He a Second Line Center?

And I’m really looking forward to seeing how Bedard has retooled his game. There have been some whispers that Bedard has really worked on his skating, perhaps changing on a few of his angling as well, things that worked for him, that he never really had to the touch being such a superstar on the WHL level that attending to the NHL things don’t occur as easily or exactly as you planned, so sometimes you’ve gotten to vary it up.

I believe he needed some help with some skating mechanics. He needed a fresh start, mindset-wise and attitude-wise, and I’m hoping that he got that this summer, and I believe you can see a completely different Connor Bedard on the ice for the Chicago Blackhawks this fall.

And I actually hope that he gets back to or establishes himself within the NHL for the primary time. A shoot-first mentality. I believe his release second only to Auston Matthews. I believe it’s that good. I do know clip it, put it aside, hot take. I believe Bedard’s release is that good, but somewhere along the road, he got here up with this thought process, or was told I’m a playmaker, or thought I’m a playmaker. No, no, you’ll be able to be each, but it’s also possible to be a shooting threat.

I’d like to see more of that for a team that actually needs more goal scoring.”

Earlier in Seravalli’s segment on Bleacher Report, when discussing Frank Nazar’s contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks, he wondered what that contract does for Bedard and the Hawks when it comes to negotiations.

NHL Rumors: The Chicago Blackhawks Offseason Update

“He was eligible to sign an extension as of July 1. That hasn’t happened yet. I believe either side seem pretty content in sitting back and waiting to see how this all necessary third yr plays out after a little bit of a disappointing sophomore season. Does this 6.6 number for Frank Nazar, on condition that he sort of outplayed Connor Bedard, does that suppress Bedards next contract, if he was pondering within the $9 to $10 million range, if he’s going long run?

Does this push that number down? Hard to say, because again, there’s an actual likelihood that Bedard goes to play this out and see how yr three goes before signing that deal. There’s no rush to do it from either end. It’s going to be a extremely interesting conversation, because Nazar has now put a number on the table.”
