R Ashwin IPL Retirement News: Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who played nine matches in IPL 2025 for Chennai Super Kings, took to X on Wednesday (August 27) to substantiate his retirement from the cash-rich league.
“Special occasion and hence a special starting. They are saying every ending could have a brand new start, my time as an IPL cricketer involves a detailed today, but my time as an explorer of the sport around various leagues begins today. Would really like to thank all of the franchisees for all of the wonderful memories and relationships through the years and most significantly the @IPL and the @BCCI for what they’ve given me until now. Sit up for having fun with and profiting from what’s ahead of me #cricketforlife,” Ashwin tweeted.
Ashwin made his debut within the IPL through the second season (in 2009) and since then has played a complete of 221 matches for five teams – Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Super Giants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
In 221 IPL matches, Ashwin picked up 187 wickets and scored 833 runs with a median of 13.01.
