Just 32 teams will probably be left within the Carabao Cup by the tip of Wednesday night’s motion and they’ll know who they’re facing within the third round of the competition.

The nine Premier League clubs not involved in European competition will join the fray within the third round, together with the 23 winners from round two.

Some Premier League sides have already departed, with West Ham losing to Wolves on Tuesday, while Sunderland were ousted by Huddersfield and Leeds by Sheffield United.

Bournemouth were also downed by Brentford in one other all-top flight second round tie.

Newcastle lifted the trophy last season after beating Liverpool in the ultimate, with each coming in on the third round stage as they’re within the Champions League this campaign.

The likes of Cambridge United of League Two, who’re still within the draw, will probably be hoping to be handed a gathering with one in every of the glamour sides from Europe’s top table.

One other League Two side, Grimsby Town, could still join them within the draw in the event that they pull off a large upset by beating Manchester United on Wednesday night.

When is the Carabao Cup third round draw?

The draw takes place following Grimsby Town vs Manchester United on Wednesday August 27.

That match kicks off at 8pm, so we will expect the draw at around 10pm, depending on how long the sport lasts.

Tips on how to watch the Carabao Cup draw

The Grimsby vs Manchester United match is being shown live each on ITV and on Sky Sports Fundamental Event and Football, with the draw following.

The third round games will probably be played within the weeks of 15 and 22 September.
