Madhushanka, on Friday, became the third Sri Lankan and overall eighth bowler on the planet to take a hat-trick in ODIs against Zimbabwe.

Fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka entered his name within the record books on Friday, August 29, by becoming the third Sri Lankan bowler to take a hat-trick in ODIs against Zimbabwe. The 24-year-old left-arm pacer from Hambantota dismissed three Zimbabwe batters in three balls on Friday. He picked up his maiden ODI hat-trick within the last over of the primary ODI played between the 2 teams at Harare Sports Club.
On the primary ball of the last over of the match, Madushanka, who finished as the very best wicket-taker for Sri Lanka within the 2023 ODI World Cup, bowled Sikandar Raza. The legendary all-rounder scored 92 runs from 87 balls. On the second ball, Madushanka removed Brad Evans for a golden duck. Evans was caught by Asitha Fernando. The 24-year-old fast bowler accomplished his hat-trick by breaching Richard Ngarava’s defence and shattering his stumps on the third ball.
Chaminda Vaas was the primary Sri Lankan bowler to take hat-tricks in ODIs against Zimbabwe. He achieved the feat throughout the match played in Colombo (SSC) on December 8, 2001.
Wanindu Hasaranga also dismissed three Zimbabwe batters in three balls on July 2, 2017, in Galle.

Other than him, Vaas and Hasaranga, Lasith Malinga, Farveez Maharoof, Thisara Perera, Shehan Madushanka and Maheesh Theekshana have also dismissed three batters in three balls one time in ODIs.
Malinga, in reality, has three ODI hat-tricks to his name.
