Chelsea make offer for brand spanking new forward as Alejandro Garnacho’s £40million transfer is confirmed

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho, but that hasn’t stopped the club from dipping into the market for one more forward.

The Argentinian winger’s £40million move from Manchester United was confirmed hours after the Blues’ 2-0 win over Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to hitch this great club,” Garnacho said.

“I am unable to wait to start. I watched the Club World Cup and to hitch the world champions is special – we’re the very best team on this planet!

“It’s amazing to be here and I’m very glad.”

Garnacho signed a deal through to 2032 and he could make his Blues debut against Brentford on September 13.

For United, the sale of the Argentinian marks the club’s biggest for an academy graduate.

Additionally they inserted a ten per cent sell-on clause into the deal.

Who else are Chelsea seeking to sign?

Despite the addition of Garnacho, Chelsea are already seeking to further strengthen their attacking unit.

talkSPORT understands Chelsea have made a €40m (£34.6m) offer for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez.

Efforts have been made all week by the Blues to attain player buy-in from Lopez, with the 22-year-old considering his future on the Spanish giants.

Barcelona are yet to answer Chelsea’s bid.

Lopez spent six years in Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy before he made his first team debut in August 2023.

In his first two seasons with Barcelona’s first team, Lopez registered 19 goals and 11 assists from 88 appearances across all competitions.

What has Hansi Flick said about Lopez’s potential exit?

Amid the speculation surrounding Lopez’s future, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was reluctant to state whether the talented midfielder would remain on the club beyond the transfer window.

“For the time being he’s here,” Flick said on Saturday.

“I spoke with him. I’m convinced he’ll stay, but at the top I do not know what happens. Now we have to attend. I’m really glad when the market is closed.

“I told him my opinion, but it surely’s between him and me. Sometimes players produce other thoughts. Across the players are also a whole lot of people, who know possibly greater than we all know.

“It’s a giant business. I even have to concentrate on my team and I’m really glad Fermin plays for Barca.

“He’s a extremely vital player for us. He showed that last season. His style is different to other players. He might help us so much.”

Lopez has made only one appearance for Barcelona this season, a 45-minute appearance in a 3-0 win over Mallorca to start out the LaLiga season.

He remained an unused substitute in Barcelona’s second clash as they overcame Levante 3-2.
