Gervonta Davis warned of ‘different’ Jake Paul power by ex-rival over whom he scored KO of the Yr

Gervonta Davis has been warned by Tyron Woodley that Jake Paul possesses a ‘different’ power, and that their size disparity can be a problem.

On November 14 in Miami, Davis will tackle Paul live to tell the tale Netflix in what’s prone to be the most important boxing fight of the yr. The pair are competing under exhibition rules as a consequence of the large size gap between them; Paul has weighed in as heavy as 227lb inside a yr while ‘Tank’ last tipped the dimensions under 134lb.

Woodley, who faced Paul twice in 2021, faced a size disparity of his own and felt the brunt of it of their second meeting where he was viciously knocked out. The punch went viral across social media, and ended up winning ESPN Ringside’s KO of the Yr.

Tyron Woodley warns Gervonta Davis of Jake Paul’s power

Gervonta Davis is undeniably the favourite heading into his fight with Jake Paul given his age, current day pound-for-pound status and the very fact he’s a reigning world champion. The one issue is his size, giving up almost 100lb in an effort to tackle the career-cruiserweight.

In Tyron Woodley’s case, he was only giving up around 20lb from his usual fighting weight of 170lb, where he had won UFC gold. But despite arguably dropping the YouTuber of their first fight and dragging him to a split decision, he felt the facility particularly in fight number two.

Speaking with Fruity King, Woodley warned Davis that he must treat Paul as a legitimate threat. “My advice to Tank, I might say take Jake seriously,” he said.

“For a fighter that’s on Tank’s level to enter a fight with anyone that on paper has not even had the amateur profession he had, let alone the skilled profession, he must take him seriously and recognise Jake has the motivation to prove people improper.

“Despite the fact that Tank is a strong puncher, you’re going as much as fighting anyone at 195 lbs. It’s an entire different level of power, and you will have got to find a way to get near him.

“His reach advantage is gonna have you ever by at the very least 5 or 6 inches and Jake’s smart enough to maintain you away from him. And in case you keep forcing the problem, you’ll be able to walk onto a punch, so I might take it seriously.”
