Nitish Kumar Reddy Falls To A Lofted Shot On Day 2 Of India vs West Indies 2nd Test

Nitish Kumar Reddy

Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was left dissatisfied after being dismissed for 43 on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, October 11. The young cricketer hung his head in frustration after holing out to long-on, with Jayden Seales taking a simple catch.

The wicket fell within the 109th over of the innings. Earlier, Nitish had struck two sixes off left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, demonstrating his attacking prowess, but on this occasion, his try to clear the sector proved unsuccessful. He merely managed to edge the ball, sending it on to Seales, who scarcely had to maneuver to finish the catch.

This marked Nitish Kumar Reddy’s debut with the bat within the series, and he contributed a priceless 43 runs off 54 balls, including 4 boundaries and two sixes. He shared a 91-run partnership with Shubman Gill, significantly helping India surpass the 400-run mark with ease.

Jaiswal And Reddy Fall Early, India Still In Control On Day 2

Before Reddy’s dismissal, West Indies had already claimed Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was denied a well-earned double century. The wicket fell inside the opening hour when the left-handed batter drove to mid-off and called for a single. Despite advancing well down the pitch, Shubman Gill didn’t respond, and Jaiswal was run out by wicket-keeper Tevlin Imlach following a pointy throw from Tagenarine Chanderpaul.

Meanwhile, Gill steadied the innings, reaching lunch unbeaten on 73 as India’s rating stood at 427/4. The hosts had resumed Day 2 at 318/2, with Jaiswal adding just a pair more runs to his overnight total. India leads the series 1-0, having won the primary Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs.
