Brazilian star Charles Oliveira could have his immediate plans post-UFC Rio scuppered already.
Turning in a spectacular victory to increase his undefeated run in his native Brazil, former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira made light work of his short-notice foe.
Becoming the primary to complete Mateusz Gamrot within the Polish star’s entire combat sports profession, Oliveira turned in a second-round face crank submission win over the ex-KSW megastar.
And issuing a post-fight callout for a rematch against Max Holloway, Oliveira has staked his claim for a shot on the symbolic BMF championship.

Charles Oliveira warned about Conor McGregor’s UFC return
Tied to a possible summer return on the incoming UFC White House event, Oliveira has been warned he could also be beaten to the proverbial punch.
So far as former lightweight star Josh Thomson is worried, Oliveira is risking a fight with Holloway — with Conor McGregor gunning for his own comeback in Washington, in addition to his own history with the Hawaiian star.
“Charles asked for that fight. Max goes to be unavailable until 2026. I believe Charles won’t fight again until 2026,” Thomson said on the Weighing-In podcast. “I believe Charles Oliveira vs Max Holloway [is] one other great fight — unless there’s gonna be a Max Holloway vs Conor McGregor on the White House.
“Then we just take a step back, and we let Max Holloway do his thing against Conor McGregor for the BMF title on the White House.”
Charles Oliveira hopes to share Brazil card with Alex Pereira
An enormous fan-favorite in his native Brazil, Oliveira was swarmed with fans upon his spectacular win against Gamrot over the weekend.
And hoping to show that momentum into one other hometown event, Oliveira encouraged the UFC to pursue a large stadium event in South America — on a card he plans to share with light heavyweight kingpin Alex Pereira.
“In a stadium. You possibly can put me because the fundamental event; I’m totally sure we will fill it. I’m the most important name within the UFC today in Brazil,” Oliveira said after UFC Rio.
“Are you able to imagine doing a card with Charles Oliveira and ‘Poatan’? That’d be huge, so should you wanna make history. I believe that Brazilian people deserve it. We deserve it, not a small Fight Night but an enormous event.”
