Thomas Tuchel insisted that England forward Marcus Rashford may be ‘one among the world’s best’, but provided that he improves in a single key area.
Rashford was omitted of England’s squad for Euro 2024 last summer, but saw his England fortunes revived by Tuchel after the German named him in his first squad back in March.
Now out on loan at Barcelona, Rashford is showing signs of getting back to his best after falling out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.
Rashford has scored three goals and produced five assists in 10 games for the Spanish giants, but Tuchel said the 27-year-old must proceed in that vein if he’s to satisfy on his talent..
‘I believe the limit for him could be very high,’ said Tuchel ahead of England’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday.
‘Possibly higher than for others. He has the potential, but potential is a dangerous word with high-level sports.
‘You could have to succeed in your personal best regularly, that’s what is demanded on this sort of level and that’s the challenge for him.

‘It’s not an issue of talent, it’s an issue of whether he can prove the purpose at club and international level.
‘He may be probably the greatest on the earth due to the quality I see in training, the ending with each legs and with the pinnacle.
‘He’s explosive, he’s fast, he is robust within the air, so where are the boundaries? There aren’t any limits – however the numbers don’t reach the potential, it’s as easy as that.

‘He remains to be young enough (27 years old) to take the suitable decisions and never let go. Because otherwise he might be upset in 10 years at what might have been and what he made from it.’
Rashford, himself, conceded that he needed to enhance his consistency, but hinted that the ‘inconsistent environment’ at United had played a component in his struggles.
‘Consistency is a large a part of it. I feel like I’ve been in an inconsistent environment for a really, very very long time. So it’s even harder to be consistent then,’ Rashford told ITV in a clip that was posted on social media and later deleted.
‘Consistency is what I would like to bring into my game. I’m looking to try this, I would like to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.
‘When people discuss consistency, to be able to be consistent in anything, not only sport, you wish consistent variables in your life, in the way in which you train and we’ve just had so many changes to this point in my profession.
‘I even have to look forward and that’s definitely one among the things I would like to place right and improve on and to be at my best more often. After I’m at my best I actually enjoy every part concerning the sport, so being there’s a special thing for me.’
