Thomas Tuchel insisted he has ‘no problem’ with England fans after the travelling support targeted him with sarcastic chants throughout the win over Latvia.
The Three Lions booked their place in next summer’s World Cup with a straightforward 5-0 win in Riga on Tuesday night, becoming the primary European nation to book their flights to North America in June.
Tuchel, who succeeded Gareth Southgate as England boss as the beginning of the 12 months, has presided over a flawless qualifying campaign with six wins from six.
However the German got here under fire last week after blasting England fans for failing to generate any atmosphere within the friendly game against Wales at Wembley last week.
There was a healthy contingent of travelling England supporters within the Latvian capital, singing within the rain as their side ran out comfortable winners.
But at the beginning of the sport, they targeted Tuchel with cheeky chants following the recent criticism.
Shortly before kick-off, fans chanted: ‘We’ll sing when we would like, we’ll sing when we would like, Thomas Tuchel, we’ll sing when we would like.’
That was followed up by ‘Are we loud enough for you?’ before a sarcastic rendition of ‘Our support is f*****g s**t.’
Tuchel didn’t appear too troubled by the stick he was getting and after the sport, he happily took it on the chin.
He told ITV: ‘I got some stick in the primary half! Fair enough and well done.
‘Good sense of humour and no problem, I can handle it. It was good support from start to complete.’
